Thank you notes are our favorites. Today, we received a note and this sweet photo from a local parent, after her son, Nathan, took a bad fall while riding his scooter downhill at Fabyan Forest Preserve. Officer Konecki was there on routine patrol. He got Nathan bandaged up and ready to ride once more. 👍👍

Forest Preserves of Cook County Police Detectives have arrested John G. Lang for the sexual assault in LaBagh Woods on Saturday, May 23. Lang, age 45 with no address on file, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated battery with strangulation. His case was heard in bond court and he will be held without bail.

Your relentless dedication, thorough investigation, and tireless efforts exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement. Because of your hard work and perseverance, justice was pursued on behalf of the victim and their loved ones. We are grateful for your service, your integrity, and your steadfast commitment to protecting our community. Well done, and thank you for your exceptional work.

UPDATE: Forest Preserves Police have released a sketch of the suspect.

Forest Preserves of Cook County Police detectives are asking the public for information in their investigation of a criminal sexual assault of a 29-year-old woman in LaBagh Woods at approximately 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 23. The incident occurred off-trail in a heavily wooded area in the eastern side of the preserve.

The offender is described as a white male about 6 feet tall with a long brown and blond beard reaching to his chest. He was wearing a dark shirt, black beanie hat, dark sunglasses and a zip-up black jacket with a red stripe on the shoulder. Anyone with information about this person or incident is asked to call Cook County Dispatch: 847-635-1188.

Forest Preserves Police, with the assistance of the Chicago Police Department and Cook County Sheriff’s Police, have been canvassing the area as part of the investigation. For public safety and to further the investigation, Forest Preserves Police have increased car patrols and ATV and bicycle patrols in the area.

🚴🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️Today, officers from the Forest Preserve Districts of DuPage and Kane Counties conducted trail education efforts at Fabyan East Forest Preserve. Officers shared information about Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes and promoted safe trail use practices.
Visitors were reminded to ride at safe speeds, stay alert, and help keep the trails safe and enjoyable for everyone.
