Deputy Kates, our Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools SRO, traded in his duty belt and vest for Crocs and a swimsuit today as he took his turn in the dunk tank during the end-of-year celebration! 💦😎

We're not quite sure who had more fun—the students or Deputy Kates—but let's be honest... the kids were absolutely loving it! They lined up for their chance to send him splashing into the water, and they did not disappoint. 🎯🤣

Deputy Dean even stopped by with Deputy Cary and tried to pull a fast one on Deputy Kates, but our SRO wasn't falling for it. Let’s just say Deputy Deans calling for the MLB was short lived, and Deputy Kates was ready with some instant aquatic justice, sending a wave of water his way and evening the score.

It's days like today that remind us how fortunate we are to have such a great partnership with Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools. Building relationships, making memories, and sharing a few laughs with our students is what it's all about.

From our road patrol deputies to corrections staff, dispatchers, administrative personnel, and command staff — every member of our team plays a vital role in serving and protecting our community each and every day.

This week, we especially thank our deputies and sheriff staff for their professionalism, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to public service. Your hard work, courage, and compassion do not go unnoticed.

Did you know both our Sheriff and Undersheriff are head coaches of high school baseball teams? Sheriff Nowicki leads the Ga***rd St. Mary Snowbirds, while Undersheriff Muladore leads the Ellsworth Lancers. Today, the two faced off against each other on the field — a great reminder of the leadership, dedication, and mentorship they provide both in our community and through athletics. ⚠️ This is a SCAM. Courts, law enforcement and MI SOS do NOT demand payment or threaten suspension via text message.

Do NOT click the link or reply. Delete the message and report it as spam.

If you have questions about a ticket or your license, contact the court or Secretary of State directly with contact information from their official website.

[Michigan 36th District Court System] FINAL NOTICE: Pursuant to MCL 257.321a, because you failed to pay the fine, your citation MI-PQR78S9T-UVW24X5Y (Violation Date: March 14, 2026) is now seriously overdue.
FAILURE TO RESOLVE THIS DEBT BY 11:59 PM TONIGHT (April 28, 2026) WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC ENFORCEMENT:
• License Suspension: Your driving privileges will be suspended by the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS). A $45 reinstatement fee will be required for clearance.
• Aggravated Financial Penalties: A mandatory late fee and administrative surcharges will be immediately added to your total balance pursuant to Michigan law.

🚨 Press Release 🚨

Today just after 1600 hours, Deputies responded to Bagley Township after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle. Deputies quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to pull over and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued into Crawford County before coming to a safe conclusion when the suspect vehicle became disabled due to deflated tires. Deputies were then able to swiftly and safely take the driver into custody.

The suspect, a 55-year-old female, was taken into custody without further incident. She was evaluated and received medical attention at the scene before being lodged at the Otsego County Jail.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Ga***rd City Police, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Crawford County Fire Department for their coordinated assistance and support in bringing this incident to a safe resolution.
