PUBLIC NOTICE: Streight’s Raid Civil War Reenactment – Cedar Bluff

Cherokee County Emergency Management would like to make the public aware of increased activity in the Cedar Bluff area this weekend due to the Streight’s Raid Civil War Reenactment taking place at 135 AL Highway 35, Cedar Bluff, AL.

Residents and visitors can expect increased traffic along AL Highway 35, particularly during peak event hours. Delays may occur when entering and exiting the event area. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, use caution, and follow all directions from traffic control personnel.

Additionally, loud noises including cannon and musket fire will occur as part of the scheduled reenactment activities. These sounds may be heard throughout the surrounding area and are part of the historical experience.

There is no cause for alarm; however, residents—especially those with pets or sensitivities to loud noise—should take appropriate precautions.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we support this community event.

A Message from Sheriff Jeff Shaver

“Many Cherokee County families are preparing for spring break, and I want to remind everyone that a few simple precautions can go a long way in protecting your home and your property. Taking steps before you leave can help prevent crime and give you peace of mind while you’re away, so that you can have a relaxing time.”

The Sheriff’s Spring Break Safety Reminders:

• Avoid posting travel plans on social media. Wait until you get back home to share vacation pictures.
• Secure your home, vehicle, garage, and shed before leaving.
• Ask someone you trust to keep an eye on your home and collect your mail and packages.
• Protect your valuables. Keep items out of sight and use locks or security devices when possible.
• Keep a list of serial numbers for tools, equipment, and other valuables stored in garages or sheds.

When we work together and take these simple steps, we can reduce crime and keep our community safe. Let’s keep Cherokee County safe and enjoy spring break, everyone.
