NOTICE AND CALL OF ELECTION AND QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS

Notice is hereby given that the Town of Gay, Georgia will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for the offices of Town Council Post 2, Town Council Post 3 and Town Council Post 4. The qualifying fees will be Five Dollars ($5.00).

Candidates desiring to qualify may do so from Monday, August 18, 2025, at 9 a.m. through Friday, August 22, 2025, at 4:00p.m., by filing a notice of his or her candidacy and paying the qualifying fee to the Town of Gay located at Gay City Hall, 19125 Hwy 85, Gay, Georgia 30218 during regular business hours M-W-F 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The last day to register and be eligible to vote in this election will be Monday, October 6, 2025 at the Meriwether Board of Elections located at, 137 S. Court Square, Greenville, Georgia 30222. The polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. If there is the need for a run-off election, it will be held December 2, 2025.

As set forth in the American with Disabilities Act of 1992, the Town of Gay, Georgia, and Meriwether County Board of Elections does not discriminate based on disability and will assist citizens with special needs, as allowed by law. For information call (706) 538-6097.

Public Hearing to amend the Special Events Ordinance and Consolidated Fee Schedule March 10, 2025 @ 6:00 pm at the Community Building 19125 Hwy. 85, Gay, Ga 30218.

Meriwether County EMA and it’s Board of Commissioners, in partnership with the City of Manchester, Manchester Recreation, Manchester Fire, Meriwether County Fire and the local Faith-Based Organizations, will open a warming shelter starting this evening January 6th at 7:00 PM at the Manchester Community Building located at #5 Second Avenue Manchester across from Duck’s Trolley and, based on forecasts, through Friday morning. We will make a decision on keeping it open past Friday based on forecasts. We will have coffee, food, drinks, cots, and blankets available to anyone in need staying in the shelter. Transportation to and from are available to those who don't have transportation. Alcohol or drug use will not be tolerated on the property.
