Niagara Heights Water Wheel

Niagara Heights Water Wheel This page was created to follow the process of bringing a large water wheel back into operation after 8-10 years of sitting idle, due to mechanical problems.

Built in 1984, this 25' diameter overshot wheel is a testament to one man's vision.

I just want to announce that I have removed myself as an admin on this page. Thank you to everyone for your support and interest over the last 10 years or so. It has been the best time of my life working on the wheel, putting up the Christmas lights, etc., and meeting so many visitors and photographers who stopped over the years.

The wheel, and this page, are now in very capable hands, and I will always be willing to help the Hieberts with anything wheel-related!

The water wheel is moving again! 🌊⚙️

Spent some time chasing down a few breaks in the water line… but she’s rolling again and bringing this old dream back to life one step at a time. There’s still plenty to do, but seeing that wheel turn is happiness!

Nothing better than the sound of running water and a little progress in the right direction. 🤎

So everyone is aware, I am passing management of this page to Hope Hiebert. The first step was to make her an admin, then I step out. Any posts from NHWW could either be from me or her, until she is the sole admin.

We’re excited to share that we (Hope and Craig Hiebert) are the new owners of the Niagara Heights Water Wheel property.

We want to sincerely thank the Lamb family for the care, upkeep, and dedication they’ve shown over the years. Their efforts helped promote a place that means so much to our family, continuing our grandfather’s dream. We look forward to their continued guidance along the way.

For Craig, this is a full-circle moment—growing up on this property and now having the opportunity to own it is incredibly meaningful. We couldn’t be more excited to create new memories here and watch our grandkids grow up enjoying the same land.

There’s a lot of work ahead, and we’re looking forward to bringing new life to the property while honoring its history. We’ll be sharing updates along the way, and we’re grateful to have you all be part of this journey with us.

A new chapter begins! The property is soon to be taken over by a relative of the man who installed the wheel. He spent much of his childhood there, and is very happy to carry on. I will be giving him some help- the wheel still needs mechanical repair, so hopefully, it will be running again reliably soon.

I want to thank you all for your interest in this project, and offer my apologies for not making better progress.
