The Virginia Beehive Distribution Program is now open for applications! 🐝

This program provides free beehive assembly equipment to Virginia residents, to help expand the number of actively managed honey bee colonies throughout the Commonwealth.

If you're interested in beekeeping and want to support the health and diversity of the Commonwealth's pollinators and ecosystems, apply by Sept. 9. 🍯🌼

Here is a great way to build community capacity if you are 65 or older and looking to make an impact!

Senior Mentoring is a conjoined program between Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Medicine and the Virginia Center on Aging. By pairing first-year medical students with community-dwelling older adults (65+) within the state of Virginia, the program is intended to provide older adults an opportunity to positively influence the ability of future physicians to provide medical care to older adults in a compassionate way and to help end negative stereotypes about aging.

Mentors are interviewed three times by two medical students between November and April. Interviews last about one hour and can be conducted over the phone or virtually (e.g., Zoom or FaceTime) if you are not located in the Richmond area. Students will come prepared with questions to guide the discussion. These are not medical examinations.

Scott County 4-H is seeking youth ages 13-19 interested in being a positive role model for children during a week of Junior 4-H Summer Camp happening tentatively July 12 - 16, 2027. Interested youth must apply by December 4. Applications can be found in the office or online. Youth hired will receive up to 60 hours of community service hours.
