If you were billed on your taxes for a trailer that you no longer own then please go by the DMV to have the permanent tagged removed from your record. Let us know when you update the DMV in order for us to remove in your tax records too.
The permanent tags that hadn’t been cancelled out were in the files that we pulled for this year.
Removing it at the DMV before January 1st
will prevent it from being billed out again in 2026.

I greatly appreciate. I only want to bill if it’s legit but if it’s in the records at DMV then I don’t have a way to know who has sold or given them away. I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience.

Oct. 21, 2025 — Due to the current lapse in appropriations, IRS operations are limited. However, the underlying tax law remains in effect, and all taxpayers must continue to meet their tax obligations as normal.

REMINDER: Deadline Due date has been extended to December 10th, 2025.
Same as last year and always
this office is the contact for bill corrections whether there are errors / omissions or questions. Do not call the Treasurer for corrections. Contact us at 276-386-7692 or my email is: [email protected]
This is the first year for pull behind trailers and RV Campers on the statements of which we downloaded from DMV. If you no longer have any that’s showing on the bill then please correct at DMV and provide copy of the documentation in order for us to correct for you in our office too. If you file a farm schedule and were billed with cattle trailer or trailer used strictly in farming because of the permanent tags then provide us with a copy of your schedule F from most recent 1040 for us to make a correction. We are sorry for any and all inconveniences. We appreciate you all for your understanding.
