Gaston County Board of Elections The Gaston County Board of Elections administers all elections in Gaston County, North Carolina

The Gaston County Board of Elections oversees all elections in Gaston County including those for the thirteen municipalities in the county. The Board operates under the general supervision of the State Board of Elections, has quasi-judicial and policy making authority over all aspects of elections and voter registration in Gaston County. The principal functions of the office include voter registration, candidate filing, establishing election precincts and voting sites, appointing and training precinct officials, preparing and distributing ballots, maintaining voting equipment, canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in Gaston County, candidate campaign finance compliance and providing public information on elections and voting procedures.

If you received a letter or a card marked "official election mail," it is most likely from our office or the NC State Board of Elections.

While we do not mass mail voter registration forms, we do correspond with voters through the mail when additional information is needed, or we've made changes such as a precinct move. We mail letters and - more often - cards to voters.

Prepping for 2026 General Election voting continues as Gaston County Elections board members meet at 5 PM Tuesday.

The agenda includes approval of items such as:
✔ ballots to be used for 2026 General Election voting
✔ replacement Election Day judges
✔ multipartisan assistance team (MAT) members
✔ a resolution establishing the schedule and location for the counting of Early Voting and absentee ballots
✔ other business
