This year has seen significant activity at the training center so far. The Fire Academy, which started on January 13th with Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, has been in full swing, followed by the commencement of Firefighter 1 on February 2nd. Further updates will be provided, accompanied by pictures, as the class nears its conclusion at the beginning of May. The students will successfully complete the following certifications during the Fire Academy:

Hazmat Awareness
Hazmat Ops
Firefighter I
Firefighter II
NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
CPR/AED
Online LMS training for Autism and SIDS.

We are pleased to announce that we have taken delivery of our new Class B 53 Ft Live Fire Trainer built by Symtech.

Earlier this week, Symtech delivered training on how to properly set up and operate this new prop.

Stay tuned, once we have procedures developed for this new Class B prop to be available to come to your region of the state.

Did you know that Grant County EMS provides monthly in-service training sessions? 🤔 💭

Our outstanding supervisor and PI Taylor typically leads these sessions, dedicating time and effort to support a wide range of first responders, including fire personnel, EMTs, EMRs, school employees, and others seeking training hours or basic skills refreshers. With a new topic each month and occasional guest instructors, there is always something new to learn. ✏️ 🚑

In 2026, we are introducing innovative plans for more hands-on training in conjunction with classroom instruction. These free monthly training sessions count towards recertification requirements. For more information, please contact the Grant County EMS office, where our team will be happy to answer any questions or concerns. While typically scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month, these classes are subject to change. We hope to see a growing number of attendees eager to expand their EMS knowledge and basic skills!! 🩺🩹
