π Gas City Police Department Autism Registry Initiative π
The Gas City Police Department is excited to announce our new Autism Registry Initiative, designed to help our officers better serve and protect individuals on the autism spectrum.
π
Date: Friday, July 24
π Time: 4:00 PM β 7:00 PM
π Location: Gas City Police Department
This voluntary registry is available for individuals of all ages on the autism spectrum. The information provided will assist law enforcement in the event an individual wanders or elopes from home by helping officers quickly identify emergency contacts and better understand the individual's unique needs.
The registry allows us to gather important information such as:
β’ Emergency contact information
β’ Communication preferences
β’ Sensory triggers
β’ Effective calming techniques
β’ Favorite locations the individual may be drawn to
β’ Other important information that can help officers safely reunite individuals with their families or caregivers
What to bring:
πΈ A recent photograph of the individual. (If you are unable to provide one, we will gladly take a photograph at the police department during your visit.)
Please plan to spend enough time completing the registry form while you are here.
Our goal is to strengthen communication between families and first responders so that, if an emergency occurs, our officers have the information they need to respond safely, effectively, and compassionately.
Questions? Please contact Officer Kaitlin Jackowicz at [email protected].
Together, we can make our community safer and more inclusive for everyone. π
