We had a great day searching for bears in Icy Strait, Alaska! 🐻🇺🇸

We were fortunate to see bears, whales, and salmon—all in one incredible day. The beauty and wildlife of Alaska never disappoint!

It was a great trip, and I’m already looking forward to coming back next year. What an amazing experience! 🐋🐻🐟

I had the privilege of meeting with the Mayor of Skagway, Alaska, and Tourism Director Jaime Bricker of Explore Skagway Alaska.
We had a wonderful conversation and listened to the fascinating history of Skagway. What really stood out to me was how similar the histories of Skagway and Gas City are. Skagway grew during the Gold Rush, while Gas City grew during our Gas Boom. Both communities were built on opportunity, hard work, and people who believed in the future of their towns.
It was a pleasure meeting two amazing people, and I look forward to staying in touch and continuing to learn from one another.
You never know what great ideas and friendships can come from visiting another community.

We are blessed to have Gas City recognized and invited to participate with the CFR.

Dear Mayor Rock:

On behalf of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), I invite you to attend a CFR State and Local Officials Webinar via Zoom on Tuesday, September 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EDT).

Shannon K. O’Neil, senior vice president of studies and Maurice R. Greenberg chair at CFR, will discuss the current state of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), including the latest developments from the 2026 review, the broader landscape of North American trade relations, and implications for U.S. trade policy and economic competitiveness. A question-and-answer session will follow her opening remarks. Please note that the webinar, including the question-and-answer portion, will be on the record.

To respond, click the Register or Decline button. We will send the meeting access instructions the day prior to the webinar. This invitation is transferable but limited to state and local officials and their staffs. If a colleague wishes to register, they may write to [email protected] with their name, professional title, and affiliation.

I look forward to your participation.

Best regards,
Irina
