☀️ HEAT ADVISORY ☀️

The Garysburg Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone to take extra precautions during this period of high temperatures and humidity.

🌡️ Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly.
Please remember to:
✅ Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
✅ Take frequent breaks if working outdoors.
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
✅ Stay in air-conditioned areas when possible.
✅ Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
✅ Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

🚒 Hot and dry conditions can also increase the risk of outdoor fires. Avoid burning debris, properly dispose of ci******es, and use caution with equipment that may create sparks.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay cool. If you experience signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, seek medical attention immediately.

Some of the best moments in the fire service don't happen on emergency scenes.

They're found on evenings like this. Members, families, and friends gathered at the station, washing trucks, sharing stories, and taking pride in the equipment that serves our community every day.

The fire department isn't just a building or a fleet of trucks. It's a family. It's neighbors helping neighbors. It's people willing to give their time to something bigger than themselves.

As the sun sets behind the station tonight, we are reminded that serving our community starts long before the tones drop.

🚒☀️ COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: SUMMER YOUTH CAMP 2026 ☀️🚒

The Garysburg Volunteer Fire Department is proud to help spreading the word about this year's Summer Youth Camp hosted by Garysburg Parks & Recreation!

This FREE camp provides local youth ages 6-12 with a fun, safe, and engaging summer experience filled with activities, learning opportunities, friendships, and exciting field trips. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily, and space is limited!

Our firefighters will be participating during one of the camp days, giving campers an opportunity to learn about fire safety, meet local firefighters, explore fire apparatus, and see firsthand how we serve our community.

We believe investing in our youth today helps build a stronger community tomorrow.

With the recent hot temperatures and dry conditions, the risk of grass, brush, and wildland fires is extremely high. Dry vegetation can ignite quickly, and even a small spark from equipment, ci******es, vehicles, or outdoor burning can lead to a fast-moving fire.

🚒 Help prevent fires by:
• Avoiding outdoor burning when conditions are dry and windy.
• Properly disposing of ci******es and smoking materials.
• Keeping vehicles off dry grass.
• Being cautious when using equipment that may create sparks.
• Reporting any signs of fire immediately.

When most people think of the fire department, they think of emergency calls, flashing lights, and firefighters responding to help those in need. What many don't see are the countless hours spent behind the scenes preparing for those moments.

Over the past several weeks, our members have dedicated numerous evenings and weekends to conducting annual hose testing on every hose carried on our apparatus. Each section must be inspected, tested, documented, cleaned, and returned to service to ensure it is ready to perform when lives and property are on the line. This work is especially important as we prepare for our upcoming ISO inspection.

These tests don't happen on their own. They require volunteers willing to sacrifice time away from their families, friends, and personal commitments to serve Garysburg. The photos below are just a small glimpse into a hard working weekend, the dedication, and teamwork that goes into keeping our department prepared.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to every member who has spent long hours helping with hose testing and equipment maintenance. Your commitment does not go unnoticed.

Serving our community isn't just about responding to emergencies, it's about putting in the work before the call ever comes.
