Data Center Bootcamp!

Excited to be learning about one of the fastest-growing industries in America. Data centers are the backbone of the digital economy, powering everything from cloud computing and artificial intelligence to online business and communications.

As someone who believes in creating jobs and growing local economies, I’m always looking for opportunities that could benefit communities like Gary, Indiana. Looking forward to learning more about the infrastructure, workforce needs, and economic development opportunities that data centers can bring.

Gary cannot be rebuilt on dependency. While families struggle with blight, high bills, and shrinking opportunity, a powerful tax-exempt nonprofit machine has grown larger and richer than City Hall itself. Some organizations do real good, but nonprofits were never meant to replace factories, warehouses, small businesses, homeowners, and a real tax base. Gary needs taxpayers, payrolls, jobs, and investment again.

It’s time to stop managing poverty and start creating prosperity. We need to leverage Gary’s unmatched infrastructure, build a freight and logistics hub, develop our land, grow manufacturing, expand opportunity, and make Gary the economic engine it was always meant to be. The future belongs to builders, not bureaucracies.

A resident says he was kicked out of Gary forums for reposting my speech. Ask yourself why. If the message was weak, they could debate it. If the facts were wrong, they could challenge it. Instead, they chose silence. Gary deserves better.

The Leave Chicago Behind movement is about Gary choosing growth over decline. For too long, Gary has lived in the shadow of Chicago instead of competing with it. While Chicago carries the weight of high taxes, heavy regulation, rising costs, and political machine habits, Gary has the chance to become the smarter, leaner, hungrier alternative.

Across America, families and businesses are leaving many blue-state cities for red-state regions in search of affordability, safety, opportunity, and freedom to build. That migration is not random. It is a scoreboard.

Gary can use that same formula.

We have rail, highways, industrial land, port access, and proximity to one of the largest markets in America. Instead of begging for crumbs, Gary should be attracting manufacturers, logistics companies, warehouses, and entrepreneurs who are tired of paying premium prices in Illinois.

Every business that chooses Gary means:

* Jobs for Gary residents
* New tax revenue
* Revived neighborhoods
* Stronger schools and services
* Families staying instead of fleeing

The message is simple: if people are leaving overtaxed, overregulated cities, then Gary should be the welcome mat right across the border.

Leave Chicago Behind is not a slogan. It is an economic rescue

Gary has world-class location, rail, highways, industrial land, and an airport with runway potential, yet for decades we’ve been told to settle for scraps. Indiana Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith said what many have been thinking: Gary should be competing for a share of Chicago’s massive airfreight economy, not sitting quietly on the sidelines. I joined WLTH Radio with John Allen to say the same thing, and then some.

The 1995 airport compact deserves a fresh look. If Gary is only getting a small annual payout while being discouraged from growing into its own cargo powerhouse, then it’s time to ask who really benefits. Gary should be building jobs, warehouses, logistics hubs, trucking opportunities, and a tax base for our people.

Gary was built to produce. Built to move. Built to win. The runway should lead upward, not nowhere.
