IMPORTANT DISTRICT UPDATE
Dear Lake Ridge Families and Community,
As we continue to recover from the devastating storm that has impacted our schools, homes, and community, we want to provide an important update regarding the reopening of Lake Ridge New Tech Schools.
Lake Ridge New Tech Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, 2026.
We are grateful to share that power has now been restored to the remainder of our district buildings. While this is an important step forward, restoring power does not mean our buildings are immediately ready to safely welcome students and staff back.
Now that electricity has been restored, our maintenance, custodial, and janitorial teams are able to fully enter our buildings, assess their conditions, and begin addressing the needs of each facility. This allows us to identify and prioritize necessary cleanup, repairs, building systems, and other concerns so that each school can be properly prepared for a safe return.
We also recognize that while power has been restored to our schools, many of our families and staff members may still be without power or dealing with damage and other challenges caused by the storm. Please know that we understand the tremendous strain this has placed on our community.
Our students have already experienced an unexpected and difficult start to the school year. When we are able to welcome them through our doors, we want their first day of school to feel positive, safe, welcoming, and exciting—not stressful or uncertain. We want our families and staff to have the opportunity to focus on recovery while we do everything possible to prepare our schools.
Before reopening, we must be confident that all aspects of our operations are ready, including our facilities, transportation, meals, utilities, building systems, and the overall learning environment.
We remain deeply grateful to our maintenance, custodial, and janitorial teams, first responders, linemen, utility workers, community partners, staff members, volunteers, and everyone who has worked tirelessly throughout this emergency. Your commitment to Lake Ridge and our surrounding community has been extraordinary.
We understand that these continued closures create challenges for our families, and we sincerely appreciate the patience, grace, and understanding you have shown throughout this unprecedented situation. We will continue assessing our buildings and will provide our families and staff with additional information regarding our return to school as soon as it becomes available.
Please continue to take care of yourselves, your families, and one another. Recovery takes time, but we will continue moving forward as one community.
