The Model 1872 Forage Cap/Kepi is the ONLY acceptable head gear for garrison wear during the time frame of the Little Bighorn (1876). By this time there were no old civil war surplus forage caps/kepis in the system, having been sold off as excess or condemned years earlier. And no, this is not headgear where curving the brim (like a baseball cap) is acceptable. That was not done back in the day, as plenty of period photos so indicate.

Winter hours will start on October 1st. The park will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. The park will be closed to all traffic and visitors Monday to Thursday.

The Tour Road, Last Stand Hill, Reno Benteen Entrenchment Site, and all trails will close at 3:30 pm. The contact station, bookstore, and Custer National Cemetery will stay open until 4 pm.
