Even though we did get some rain please understand it is still extremely dry. We are still under a burn ban. Units went out a fought a grass fire today off of 95 that seemed to have 7 different fire starts. Units were able to control the fire and get most of the hotspots put out this afternoon. The fire ended up being about an acre and a half. The forest service came out and plowed a line around the fire as well

Good morning,
As y’all have seen this morning we are getting some much needed rainfall. We are thankful for the predicted forecast being a little off. Just want to remind everyone that until the county lifts the Burn Ban it is still illegal to do any outdoor burning. Some areas are receiving more rain than others and a fire threat in the upcoming days could continue. Depending on the total amount of rain will help the county determine if the drought conditions decrease. Continue to follow for updates on changes to the burn ban and changing fire danger.

⚠️⚠️Attention⚠️⚠️
We want to advise everyone that with today’s and tomorrows weather forecast to be extremely cautious with doing activities that could result in a grass fire. Remember we are all under a BURN BAN.

Today’s forecast is calling for high winds around 20 to 30 mph gusting to 40mph starting this evening continuing through 1 pm tomorrow afternoon. Very little rainfall is expected to occur in our area. This brings a concern for wildfires. In our drought conditions trees are stressed and weak. This can result in falling limbs or trees on power lines resulting in wildfires.

In the event of a wildfire with these conditions fire growth could be rapid and very dangerous. Control of fires in these conditions will also become difficult. Report any and all smoke immediately to 911.

A Fire will be wind driven along with the dry vegetation the fire could move faster than a person can run.

Good afternoon folks,
Some of y’all received a little rainfall earlier this morning. This is better than non but the amount received is not even close to the amount needed to reduce the fire threat and will slow them for a very short period today. All areas are still under a BURN BAN and will continue to be until we receive substantial rainfall across the region. We have begun to respond to illegal burns in the area and want to let everyone know that the grace period is over and will most likely result in a citation for burning. The sheriffs department has been responding to these calls with us to handle the violations. If you see a fire then be sure to report it to 911.

Tonight the fire department got to go over the new ISO tanker shuttle training. We were able to do a test run on it tonight and some of our juniors got to be at the end of the nozzle tonight as well!

With the drought conditions continuing to worsen. If you see a fire report it. In these conditions fire will grow rapidly and be difficult to contain. Use caution when doing outdoor activities that can cause a fire. Mowing, grinding, and welding are some examples.

Worsening drought conditions and shifting winds will contribute to increased fire danger Today across the entire Four State Region. Follow burn guidance of local officials, as several counties/parishes are currently under burn bans.
