Crews will temporarily close northbound S.R. 3 near Avilla on Saturday, May 9, for necessary repairs. During the one-day closure, northbound drivers will need to use the detour of S.R. 205, S.R. 327 and S.R. 8, or seek an alternate route.

Garrett Fire Department recently honored the retirements of two long-standing members.
Ron Leon: 28 Years of Service
John Liechty: 26 Years of Service.
Their decades of volunteer service have left an indelible mark on our department and the residents they protected.
This milestone was celebrated alongside a dinner provided by Mayor Todd Fiandt and Cheryl Andrews in observance of National Firefighter Day.
We thank them for their steadfast dedication and wish them the absolute best in their retirement.

They don’t just fight fires—they save lives, protect homes, and keep their neighbors safe. And they do it all while strengthening the community they serve.

Without volunteer firefighters, many small communities would face slower emergency response, higher costs, and reduced overall safety. They’re not just responders—they’re a critical part of the community’s stability and well-being.
