Kudos to our local EMS for sending help to those in need!

Our Anderson County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team has deployed an Advanced Life Support ambulance to South Carolina in response to Hurricane Helene.

This deployment is part of the department's subcontract to provide ground ambulance and EMS personnel to supplement the federal and military response to a disaster, a service they can extend with no impact to local operations.

"We're proud to be able to respond to the needs of our community and to serve others in times of crisis," said Troy, Anderson County EMS director. "This deployment reflects our ongoing commitment to providing critical medical services when they are needed most."

Please keep our Anderson County crew and all responding agencies in your prayers as they head into the storm to provide vital medical care to those in need.

At tonights meeting explorers learned about triage! Did you know that triage means to assess and sort? Explorers used their knowledge about triage to do a scenario and sort through patients and assess their injuries, respiration and mental status after assessments they predicted whether the patient is Green, Yellow, Red, or Black. Then figured out how many ambulances would be needed for the situation.

The Explorers had a meeting last night where they learned about patient assessments and got to participate in scenarios where they used the skills they learned like blood pressure, Pulse oxygen levels, Pain levels, and also how to use acronyms to help with knowing what to ask the patient when assessing them. Thanks to the explorer advisors and the on duty EMS crew for helping with the scenarios.
