Firefighter/Chief Chauffeur Dan Mumford of S.W. Johnson S.F.E Co #1,
West Haverstraw Fire Department suffered a massive heart attack and passed away while battling a structure fire at the Manors Apartments on Rt 202 in the Thiells-Roseville Fire District.

Dan, you are truly missed and although gone, you will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers 🙏 to the Mumford Family and his extended family, our brothers and sisters at S.W. Johnson S.F.E. Co #1 and Volunteer Hose Company #2.

Our members along with numerous mutual aid departments assisted the West Haverstraw Fire Department with a large vacant commercial fire last night into this morning, and also handled two additional assignments in their area.

Tonight for our weekly drill, member and NY State Fire Instructor John Checo conducted an EV awareness class, focusing on the hazards and complexities of electric vehicle fires. We're grateful to Schultz Ford for providing electric vehicles for this valuable training experience.

At 03:52 hours we were requested for our FASTeam mutual aid to Hillcrest FD for a confirmed structure fire. Our team stood fast then assisted with overhaul operations.
