Congratulations to the Lady Patriots on their big win in the 53rd District Championship game tonight. The girls played a tough brand of defense and controlled the boards all night. Great job ladies.

Hello friends and neighbors. Today, January 20, 2026, Dana registered for Re-Election for Knott County School Board in district #5. The last 3 years have been so rewarding for her. She has met so many great people. She has gained friends that will last a lifetime. But, most importantly, she has helped make Knott County a better place for our kids to get an education. In the coming months, Dana plans to talk to most of you and listen to any hopes and/or concerns that you may have for the district. Thank you.

Good morning everybody. Whewww. This election season is really getting ramped up. The radio is full of ads. Some may not be as pleasant as you want them to be. Just know that we are focusing on the positives. We want to move forward with this campaign for the next few days and let you, the voters, decide who is the best person for the job.

Some of you in the county don’t know Dana and can only go with what we tell you her accomplishments are. But, the people associated with Jones Fork Elementary know the time and dedication that Dana has put into that school. They know that what she does is completely selfless and is being done so those kids have the benefits they deserve. She has been dedicated to the growth of every aspect there. Please just ask these parents and teachers if you need more information.

Dana wants to do the same things for the rest of the county that she has helped do at Jones Fork. If you have any questions about her or just want to meet her, please reach out. When you go vote next Tuesday, vote with the future of our children in mind. Please don’t let last minute efforts to win your vote be the determining factor. Dana will always be there for you and try her best to help lead Knott County into the future as the best district around. Thank you all and have a great day.

The 7 Signs of Effective School Board Members

1) Having a Clear Vision for Their District. ...
*Dana believes that ahead of everything else, Knott County kids deserve the same advantages, both academic and athletic, that neighboring districts have.

2) Setting Goals. ...
*When you are at a small school you have to think outside of the box and be an innovator. Dana will use her experience as PTO President and site base member to come up with ways to improve her district, one small step at a time.

3) Focusing on Student Achievement. ...
*Not every child has the same abilities. Dana believes that each kid in Knott County should be celebrated for whatever their gifts are and should be equipped with whatever they need to attain their goals.

4) Build Positive Relationships Throughout the District. ...
*Dana is a people person. She loves people and wants our region to move forward and want our folks to stay here and raise their families here. That starts with having the best school district. Parents won’t keep their kids in a school system that is behind the times.

5) Connect With Their Community. ...
*Dana has met so many people during this campaign. She has met people who lost everything during the horrific flooding in July and listened to people who have lost family members and just want life to be normal again. Her compassion for people is her biggest asset. She plans on being seen at each school in her district whenever possible so she knows what the issues and celebrations are.

6) Strategically Use Resources. ...
*Dana knows that not every issue can be addressed at once. She will work with the superintendent and other board members to prioritize the resources they have so they can get the most use out of them.

7) Monitor Progress Using Data.
*Our children’s future is the most important thing we need to worry about. We can’t afford to stand around and let it slip away. We need to pay attention to where they started and how far they get each semester. Use modern advances to show each kid how to do things so they understand.
