Thank you, Nguoi Viet DFW (largest Vietnamese weekly newspaper in north Texas) for bringing Garland news to our Vietnamese-speaking residents. Your coverage of the opening of Fire Station No. 7 at 1910 Pleasant Valley Road helps families across District 1 and the rest of Garland stay informed about the services in their community.
The city opened the new station on October 10, 2026, replacing the station on Naaman School Road that dated from the mid-1980s. The single-story building has four apparatus bays, a storm shelter, decontamination rooms, a gym, and living spaces for crews. City Manager Mike Betz, Mayor Dylan Hedrick, Councilman Jimmy Tran, and Fire Chief Mark Lee all spoke at the event, with Councilman Tran speaking as the District 1 representative. The mayor and all eight councilmembers attended, along with Advisor Jennifer Nguyen. The station opened the same day as Fire Station No. 1 and the Jack Coleman Tennis and Pickleball Center.
