The Garland NAACP Youth Council is designed for children and youth up to age 18. The youth elect their own officers, conduct their meetings and plan their monthly and yearly agenda. Annually the Youth Council hosts the Image Award Ceremony were 100 youth who have achieved excellence academically, artistically, athletically, and in the area of leadership in their schools, community and in their chu

rches are recognized in a public ceremony. The Youth Council supports the Goldie Locke EXCEL Awards program, the annual Garland NAACP Health Fair, the MLK Parade and Youth Extravaganza, and the Education Forum.

We are preparing for the Saturday, October 12, 2019 Education Forum. The Forum will be for parents and students from surrounding school districts and will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 9am to 1pm. The students will experience an SAT/ACT workshop taught by Curry Jones, Academic Crossroads. Other sessions for parents will feature panels addressing The College Admissions Process, Dual Credit, Concurrent Enrollment, Collegiate High School, College Honors Programs. The day will end with a keynote by Tiffany Gilmore addressing Social and Emotional Learning. The Education Forum is open to all.
