🏀 Exciting news for Garfield students and staff!

This morning, I scrolled past a post from the GMS which gave me an idea. If the Knicks win tonight they’d go up 2-0 in the NBA Finals, why not celebrate district-wide? So I reached out to Superintendent Tomko and Board President Patire, and by noon it’s official:

This Monday, June 8th, the entire Garfield School District is having a Fan Appreciation Dress-Down Day!

Wear your favorite NBA, college, professional, or local team apparel. Whether you’re repping the Knicks, another playoff team, or even Garfield, come show your pride.

It’s a small thing, but it does matter. School spirit, community energy, and a little fun as we head into the final weeks of the year, and finals week for our students, is what it’s about.

SCHOOL RECORD ⚒️

A record that stood for 32 years now belongs to Said Doshukaev.

Said cleared 13’6” on his first attempt in the pole vault, breaking Garfield High School’s school record that was originally set in 1994 and later tied in 2002.

Congratulations, Said, on an incredible achievement and a season to remember.

Happy Pride Month, Garfield.

Growing up in Garfield, I know what it means to need your school to feel like a safe place. Today, I’m wishing a happy Pride to all students and faculty members who need a reminder that you’re seen, you matter, and most importantly, this community belongs to you too.

Elanna Henry just brought home a state title for Garfield. Girls Javelin Throw, Group 3, State Champion, new PB of 142-3.
