* IMPORTANT STATEMENT FROM MAYOR MATT BURKE *

Following the prior events at Debelak Park and pressure from some of our local leaders, I made the decision to give the basketball courts another chance out of respect for the many families, children, and community leaders who supported reopening them. Unfortunately, the events of the evening of June 4 and the shooting incident has shown that we cannot safely operate outdoor basketball at this location.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victim and families involved. Effective immediately, the basketball courts at Debelak Park will be permanently closed. Resident safety remains our top priority, and we will soon announce new plans for the park that will provide safer recreational opportunities for our community. Please stay tuned.

Looking for the perfect summer Saturday? Gather the family and join us at the Metropark Pond for a day of fun on the water!

📅 When: Saturday, June 13th | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

10 AM - 3 PM: Family paddling out on the pond.

Calling all future hoop stars! Registration is now open for the Garfield Heights Youth Basketball League! Whether your child is just learning the game or looking to improve their skills, this program is designed to build confidence, teamwork, and a love for basketball in a fun and positive environment.

The new start date for Session 1 will be June 11.
