The phone lines to the Justice Center are currently down due to ongoing work at City Hall. This may remain this way through the weekend.

If you need to reach police for a non-emergency, please call 913-782-0720.

📞 For emergencies, always call 911.

Please be aware that the call button at the Justice Center may also not be working properly. If you need to speak with an officer at the station, call 913-782-0720, and an officer can respond to the Justice Center to assist you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this work is being completed.

🧔 WORLD BEARD DAY 🧔

For much of modern law enforcement history, strict grooming standards were the norm, and facial hair was often prohibited or limited to a neatly trimmed mustache. Allowing officers to wear beards is a fairly recent change for many agencies.

The shift was driven largely by recruiting and retention efforts as departments began modernizing policies to better reflect today’s workforce. Although we understand not everyone agrees that beards belong with the uniform, those of us who have them certainly appreciate the change!

Today, beards are permitted at the Gardner Police Department as long as they are maintained in a neat and professional manner.

Whether you prefer clean-shaven, a classic mustache, or a full beard, help us recognize World Beard Day by showing some appreciation for our bearded officers!

UPDATE: Zoe has been found safe. Thank you for everyone's assistance.

🚨 MISSING PERSON 🚨

The Gardner Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 26-year-old Zoe Ardoin.

Zoe was last seen at approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 30, 2026, at her residence in the 900 block of Wildcat Run in Gardner. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a white hooded sweatshirt.

Zoe is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, and has bright red hair.

Anyone with information regarding Zoe’s location is asked to contact local law enforcement or Gardner Police Detective Conrad at 913-884-8538.

This is another week of dangerously high temperatures. Remember to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your pets safe.

🌡️ Dangerous Heat Advisory This Week ☀️

Much of our area is under a Dangerous Heat Advisory for much of this week. Please take a few simple precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your pets.

💧 Drink plenty of water and avoid becoming dehydrated.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
🐾 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
🐶 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade, and avoid walking them on hot pavement.
⏰ If you must be outside, try to do so early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.
👀 Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

❄️ Need a place to cool off?
The Gardner Justice Center will serve as a cooling center during normal business hours. All Johnson County Library locations are also available as places to escape the heat.

Stay safe, Gardner, and help look out for one another during this stretch of dangerous temperatures.
