Ever wonder how communities test new street safety ideas before making permanent changes? 🛣️

In addition to developing the Safety Action Plan, the project team will implement a demonstration project, which is a temporary installation used to test potential safety improvements in real-world conditions before making long-term investments.

Demonstration projects provide an opportunity to evaluate how different approaches affect traffic operations, travel speeds, and the overall experience of people using the street. The findings will help inform future recommendations and guide decisions on potential permanent improvements.

When you're driving a little slower, you notice more.

You have more time to see someone waiting to cross the street, a person riding a bike, or a vehicle turning ahead. Those extra few seconds can make all the difference.

Safer speeds create safer streets for everyone who walks, bikes, rolls, rides transit, and drives in Gardner.

A rainy day can make it harder for everyone to see what's around them.

Turning on your headlights during rain, fog, dawn, and dusk helps people driving, walking, and biking spot you sooner—and gives everyone more time to react.

The Safe System Approach recognizes that visibility matters. Small actions like using your headlights can help create a safer environment for everyone sharing the road.

✅ Lights on in rain
✅ Lights on at dawn and dusk
✅ Lights on when visibility drops

Every person deserves a safe trip.

Your experience matters—and so does your perspective. Visit the project website to learn more about the Gardner Safety Action Plan, review project materials, and drop a pin on the interactive map to share your observations 👉 https://bit.ly/GardnerSS4A
