Come hungry and help support some of the hardest-working members of the Gardena Police Department—our K-9 Unit!

Join us on Saturday, October 3rd from 8:00–11:00 AM at the Nakaoka Community Center for our annual K-9 Pancake Breakfast. For just $10, enjoy breakfast, meet our K-9s and their handlers, and spend the morning with members of Team Gardena.

100% of the proceeds benefit the Gardena Police K-9 Program, helping provide equipment, training, and resources for our K-9 teams.

A huge thank you to the students and staff from Junípero Serra High School for stopping by the Gardena Police Department today to show some love and appreciation for our officers — and for bringing Panecito conchas! 🥐🙌

We’re grateful for the thoughtful gesture and even more grateful for the relationships we share with our local schools and students. The conchas definitely didn’t last long around here. 😂

The Cavaliers take on Hamilton High School tonight, so we’re sending them some love right back!

🚨 CRITICAL MISSING PERSON – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Gardena Police Department is asking for the community’s help locating Stephen Silva-Guzman, who was last seen at approximately 5:45 PM today (August 25) in the front yard of his residence near 12923 S. Spinning Ave. in Gardena.

Stephen is 14 years old and is described as:
• 6’1”, approximately 220 lbs.
• Blonde hair, brown eyes
• Last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, red plaid pants, and black sandals

Stephen is autistic and does not have a cell phone. He is also a new resident to the area and may not know his home address.

Congratulations to Richard Reynaga on his promotion to Lieutenant! 👏

Lt. Reynaga began his life of service in the United States Marine Corps and has continued that commitment throughout more than two decades in law enforcement. Since joining the Gardena Police Department in 2007, he has served in Patrol, Detectives, Robbery-Homicide, Gangs, SWAT, Field Training, Special Investigations, and numerous leadership roles.

His career reflects a strong commitment to service, mentorship, and professional growth.

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL WITH GARDENA! 📚

As our students get ready to head back to the classroom, we’ve been out in the community helping them start the school year off right!

On Friday, August 7, we joined our friends at Peary Middle School, where, with the generous support of our community partner Flourishing Church, we handed out more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to local students.

We were also joined by GDAAP’s Traci Saruwatari, who shared information about upcoming Red Ribbon Week activities in October. GJJIP was there to remind families about the many services they provide, including their tutoring program for students who need a little extra help with homework. Fentanyl awareness information was also provided to families.

Today, August 14, we were back at it at Environmental Charter High School – Gardena, where students participated in a backpack drive-through and picked up supplies before their first day of school next week. GJJIP also provided additional school supplies and some self-care goodies—including stress balls—to help students tackle the year ahead. 💪📓

A big thank you to all of our community partners who continue to invest in Gardena’s young people. It really does take a village, and we’re proud to be part of it.
