Introducing LUNA, OCAPICA's youth mental wellness and youth su***de prevention programming 💜. LUNA currently serves select high schools and junior highs in Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) and focuses on education (mental health trainings/topics), connection (peer mentoring/community building), and care (resource navigation/therapy). We love our LUNA Leaders! 🌙

On June 2nd and 3rd, some of our returning LUNA Leaders were trained in peer mentorship! They will be a part of our summer mentorship program to help 8th graders transition to high school!

This past school year, OCAPICA partnered with schools across AUHSD to facilitate Racial Justice Workshops designed to create meaningful conversations and empower students. 💡

Held during the school day to increase accessibility, these workshops gave students the opportunity to explore topics such as identity, intersectionality, racism, racial justice, and healing. 🔍

We’re grateful for the teachers we partnered with and the students for being open and honest in our discussions! 😊

During our 3rd year of LUNA, our High School Leaders brought mental health education to parents through workshops and wellness activities!

OCAPICA’a Youth Program Coordinator, Danielle Phan, mentored students from Katella’s Independent Learning Center on various topics during the Spring 2026 semester. 💡

Thank you to the Assembly and Senate for including $30 million for the program in the 2026 CA Budget! 👏 We applaud you for continuing to support Californians in the face of hate.

We are especially grateful to Senator John Laird and Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel for their leadership in the budget process! Thank you so much to Assemblymembers Robert Rivas, Mike Fong, Corey Jackson, Stephanie Nguyen, and Alex Lee, as well as Senators Monique Limón, Aisha Wahab, and Christopher Cabaldon, and the entire AAPI Legislative Caucus, for your leadership in taking a stand against hate in California. 🤍
