Today, we remember the incredible search-and-rescue dogs who served in the aftermath of 9/11. Twenty-five years later, their bravery and dedication remain a powerful reminder of the extraordinary bond between people and animals, and the many ways animals can serve and protect us in times of crisis. 🇺🇸🐾

As veterinary professionals, we have the privilege of caring for animals who give so much to the people around them. We honor these courageous dogs, their handlers, and the veterinary teams who supported them as they worked tirelessly at Ground Zero. Their service will never be forgotten ❤️

The top two reasons we see heat illnesses in pets in the ER:
1. Well-intentioned people take their pets for a walk or hike or play ball in the heat.
2. A pet was left in a hot car.
Let’s not do either of those things today and stay out of the ER. 🥰🐾
But….if your pet does get into trouble, we’re here to help. Stay cool! 😎

🐱 Happy International Cat Day! 🐱

Cats are experts at hiding when something is wrong, so knowing the signs of an emergency is important. Keep an eye out for these 5 feline emergencies:

🚨 Difficulty breathing
🚨 Straining or inability to urinate
🚨 Possible toxin exposure
🚨 Trauma or serious injury
🚨 Refusing food, especially for 24+ hours

When it comes to cats, subtle changes can mean something serious. If your cat doesn’t seem like themselves, don’t wait, get them evaluated. ❤️
