β›ˆοΈ STORM CLEANUP UNDERWAY IN GARDEN CITY

Storm cleanup is underway across Garden City following today’s severe weather. Please help our crews by reporting storm-related issues and following the guidelines below.

🌧️ STORM DRAINS & FLOODING

If you see a clogged storm drain, please help by safely clearing away leaves or debris if you are able to do so.

If you're experiencing flooding on the roadway or inside your home or basement, please report it. This allows our crews to check the sewer system near your property and respond more efficiently.

Report issues through GC Fix It at www.GardenCityMI.org/FixIt or call the Information Desk until 8:30 PM tonight at (734) 793-1600.

🌳 DOWNED TREES & LIMBS

Please use GC Fix It to report downed trees or large limbs blocking a roadway, sidewalk, or other public area so Public Works crews can respond.

For branches and storm debris from private property, residents can place them out with their normal yard waste for collection by Priority Waste. Branches may be:

β€’ Bundled and placed at the curb
β€’ Placed in a yard waste paper bag
β€’ Placed in a 33-gallon container that is not overflowing

Bundled branches must be less than 2 inches in diameter, no more than 3 feet long, and weigh less than 30 pounds per bundle.

Storm debris meeting these requirements will be collected by Priority Waste on your normal trash day with compost/yard waste collection. Due to the amount of debris following a major storm, collection may take an additional few days. If your yard waste is not collected, please report it through GC Fix It or contact the Information Desk.

πŸš— PLEASE USE CAUTION

Avoid driving through standing water. Even a small amount of water can cause your vehicle to stall, and deeper water can be dangerous.

Please use caution around downed trees, branches, power lines, and flooded areas while cleanup continues.

Stay safe, Garden City!

HYDRANT FLUSHING NOTICE

Garden City crews are currently flushing hydrants near Marquette and Farmington. Residents in the surrounding area may experience brown or discolored water as a result.

If you experience discolored water, please run the cold water from the lowest point in your home until the water runs clear. This will help flush your household lines.

Thank you for your patience while crews complete this necessary maintenance.

STREET SWEEPING IS COMPLETE IN THE GREEN SECTION. FRIDAY, JULY 31st, THEY WILL MOVE ON TO THE PURPLE SECTION.

** Due to the unprecedented issues with trash collection, we ask that during the street sweeping week, if your trash is not collected on the scheduled day, please move your trash can up on the curb. This will allow street sweepers to clean effectively from curb to curb the following day.

During street sweeping, a Public Service Day will be declared, and on-street parking will be prohibited to allow crews to safely and efficiently clean the roadway. Watch for Yard Signs in your neighborhood that signal when your streets are to be swept.
Garden City has 100 miles of roads so the contractor's schedule will be affected by weather and their progress. Signs will be posted in your neighborhood when your streets are to be swept.
