Today we woke up early, donned our Dress Blues, and trekked our way up to the Vietnam Memorial to Commission Second Lieutenant (2ndLt) Sherry into the United States Marine Corps

2ndLt Sherry recently graduated from with a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering. He enlisted in the in the Reserves in 2016. During his Junior year of college he applied to the Platoon Leaders Course and was selected to attend during the Summer of 2019. Today he was accompanied by the Marines and Poolees of OSS Garden City, , , and his family to witness this outstanding accomplishment he has achieved so early on in his life! I have seen this young man transition from a young sailor, to Candidate, to Marine and could not be more proud of his success. 2ndLt Sherry challenged himself an inspired others to challenge themselves to becoming Marine Officers. His perseverance, committment, and faith in himself allowed him to clebrate his success on this chilly ❄️ Saturday morning! I look forward to seeing him grow as a Leader and as a Marine. Congratulations!
