Cougar Boys Soccer traveled to Belleville this week and fell to the Tigers. The Cougars are back on the road tonight (9/17) at Melvindale to take on the Cardinals. Match time is 5:30.

Last school year, Ms. Lesko's Middle School Science in Action class was
very active planting a native plants garden behind the Middle School building. This is just a small example of the results after a few months.

Overall it was a very positive and enlightening experience for the students involved.

Memorial 1-2 Campus held an assembly to talk about Memorial’s three main expectations:

Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe

Ask them for examples from the cafeteria, the hallways, the restrooms, the bus, or the playground!

The Garden City Cougar Marching Band has made great improvements over the past several year since the addition of Kayla Cunnien as the Director of Bands for the Garden City Schools. The High School Band has grown in numbers and skill level.

Along with the high school program, Ms. Cunnien also teaches music at the Middle School. Farmington 6th graders also travel to the Middle School for music.

The Marching Band has already performed at three Varsity Football games this season. Along with the games, they can be seen at the Downtown Garden City Santaland Parade and at their annual Holiday concerts in December.

Garden City Middle School held their Open House last week for students and families. Open Houses continue next week with the high school on September 15, Burger on September 16 and Memorial on September 17!

Garden City Schools Buildings and Grounds Department paid tribute to the 25th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001 with a logo that was painted on the front lawn of Central Office. "Never Forget."

GC Middle School Co-Ed Cross Country starts Monday (9/14). Practices are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week with meets on Saturday at 10am.

🚌 SCHOOL IS BACK - PLEASE BE PATIENT & DRIVE SAFE! 🚌

As students head back to school today, we want to remind everyone to use extra caution while driving through our neighborhoods and around school zones.

During the first few days of school, please be patient with our school buses and drivers as they learn their new routes and schedules. Expect additional stops, delays, and traffic as everyone settles into the new school year.

Most importantly, STOP for school buses when their red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended. Our buses are carrying some of the most important members of our community, our kids!

🚸 Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods.
🚌 Give buses plenty of room and be patient.
🛑 Never pass a stopped school bus when required to stop.
👀 Watch closely for children crossing streets or entering/exiting buses.

Let’s start the school year safely and give our students, families, and bus drivers a little extra patience as everyone gets back into the routine!
