Twenty-five years later, we remember.

Today, Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Empire State held a formation run at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. During the run, they stopped at the Nassau County 9/11 Memorial to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Alice Yu, a survivor of the tragedy, shared her powerful story of witnessing American Airlines Flight 11 strike the North Tower from the 71st floor of the South Tower.

Realizing the severity of the situation, she and her colleagues immediately fled down the emergency stairs. By the time they reached the 30th floor, they felt the massive impact of United Airlines Flight 175 striking their own building.

Approximately 56 minutes after exiting the building—and by then at a safe distance—she watched both towers collapse.

This is just one remarkable story among the thousands from that tragic day, keeping the memory alive for the nearly 3,000 individuals who could not tell their own.

For all the fallen, and all the survivors of September 11, 2001:
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸❤️

Fair winds and following seas to NCC(Sel) Reyes! ⚓️

A native of The Bronx, NCC(Sel) Reyes has served 14 years on active duty. Prior to arriving at NTAG Empire State, he served at NTAG Southwest, and spent the past 5 years here as Recruiter in Charge at Navy Recruiting Station Westchester Square, leaving a lasting impact on the command and the Sailors he’s led. He also carries 5 years of sea duty, the foundation that shaped his years as a recruiter. Adding to that legacy, NCC(Sel) Reyes was recently selected for Chief Petty Officer, a well-earned recognition of his leadership and dedication.

Having recently transferred to NTAG Jacksonville, his leadership and dedication leave a lasting mark on Empire State, and we know he’ll continue to excel in his next chapter, soon pinning on his anchors! Bravo Zulu, NCC(Sel) Reyes. Fair winds and following seas. ⚓️🙏
