June 11, 2026

The Garden City Police Department is actively working a shooting investigation. The Garden City Police Department was dispatched to the Love’s Travel Stop at 2 Sonny Perdue Drive, Garden City, GA around 6:51am. Officers found a female victim inside a vehicle, suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to the hospital for emergency treatment.

It has been determined that the shooting occurred on Old Louisville Road near Dean Forest Road in Garden City, GA.

At around 1300 hours, Garden City Police Detectives arrested Ryan Boyd, 29, of Rincon, GA where he was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery and other related charges. He was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.

The victim remains in critical condition.

Taraji Hayes, black hair with long braids, brown eyes, 14 years of age.

Hayes was last seen on May 31 2026 in the 300 block of Chatham Villa Drive, Garden City, 31408. Hayes was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket, blue jeans, and white/pink Nike shoes.

May 13, 2026

On April 28, 2023, the Garden City Police Department initiated an investigation after human skeletal remains were discovered near Alfred Street and Highway 80. At the time of the discovery, the identity of the individual was unknown.

On May 12, 2026, autopsy results confirmed the remains to be those of Michael Potter, 57. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is urged to contact Lt. Rodriguez at 912 963-2721. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020 or online at Savannah-Chatham CrimeStoppers.

This investigation remains active, and no further details will be released at this time.
