As you enjoy the beach this weekend, stay alert for rip currents. The US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas has issued an alert to inform beach goers that there is a high rip current risk through Sunday morning.

Amazing teamwork by our City of Galveston, Texas - Government first responders. Thank you Galveston Fire Department for demonstrating your experience, training and skills as you safely rescued some very weary folks. We appreciate all who supported this effort, including our Galveston Police Department and Galveston County Health District EMS. Thank you!

Proud of our fire fighters who last night rescued eight people who were stranded on a roller coaster. They used a ladder truck to one-by-one remove each person in a safety harness. Thank you, GFD!
