🚢⚓ Welcome to Galveston, TS Lone Star State! ⚓🚢

This morning, September 8, 2026, the Port of Galveston Police Department Marine Division was proud to assist in escorting Texas A&M University at Galveston’s new 524-foot training ship, the TS Lone Star State, as it arrived at its new home on campus.

It was an honor to be part of this historic and exciting moment for Texas A&M University at Galveston, its students, faculty, and the entire Galveston community.

Over the past year, the Port of Galveston Police Department has worked diligently to transition to a new Motorola Records Management System. This extensive undertaking has required hours of training, careful coordination, and ongoing communication among multiple departments and agencies—not to mention tremendous teamwork, dedication, and plenty of patience!

This morning, August 28, Lieutenant Katie Mach proudly presented Sergeant Christopher Thai, Corporal Ethan Moffitt, and Administrative Assistant Megan Gillespie with Letters of Recognition for their invaluable support and dedication throughout this lengthy transition.

Much of the work that keeps our department moving forward happens behind the scenes, but it never goes unnoticed. Thank you for the countless hours and continued commitment you have given to this important project and to our department.

On August 25, 2021, the Port of Galveston Police Department lost one of our own.

Sergeant Clay Garrison was more than a coworker—he was a devoted husband, loving father, trusted friend, and an unforgettable presence in the lives of everyone he met. Our department has never been the same without him.

On November 30, 2021, the Port’s new police vessel was christened and proudly named the Clay Garrison in honor of his dedicated service and the lasting impact he made on our department and the Port of Galveston.

Sergeant Garrison will forever be a part of our Port Police family. Today, on the 5th anniversary of his passing, we pause to honor his life, his service, and his memory.

⚓ WELCOME HOME, ELISSA! ⚓

Some incredible views from the water this past weekend as members of the Port of Galveston Police Department had the privilege of being out on our police boat as the historic 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA made her way home to Galveston! 💙🚔⚓

There’s something pretty special about seeing a piece of Galveston history sailing back into the harbor—especially from this view!

Our officers were proud to be on the water helping welcome ELISSA home and captured some amazing pictures along the way.

Just another day with one of the best views in law enforcement! 💙⚓
