Galveston County District Clerk

Galveston County District Clerk Galveston County District Clerk Article 5, Section 9 of the Texas Constitution establishes that there shall be a District Clerk in each county.

The District Clerk is an elected official who serves a four year term. The Duties and Powers of the District Clerk are defined in the Section 51.303 of the Texas Government Code. The District Clerk is the custodian of all records relating to or lawfully deposited in the clerk's office; which includes all court pleadings and papers that are part of any cause of action, civil or criminal, in the cou

rts served by the Clerk. The District Clerk shall record the acts and proceedings of the court, enter all judgments of the court under the direction of the judge, and record all executions issued and the returns on the executions. The Galveston County District Clerk has elected to provide the citizens of Galveston County with the opportunity and the convenience of obtaining a United States Passport at the District Clerkโ€™s Office. Section 51.303 of the Texas Government Code pertains to the issuance of a United States Passport and allows the district clerk to perform all duties necessary to process an application for a United States passport, including taking passport photographs.

We stand in remembrance, gratitude, and respect for the fallen heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting and serving our communities across Galveston County. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
