The devil is in the details, even when it's over three stories up. The team at Ludowici spare no effort to ensure that these wonderful creatures are not only beautiful but built to last.

These elements, destined for the top of the completed roof, will be placed later this year. Ludowici summed it up beautifully with "realizing there is incredible complexity, innovation, specialization, and challenge involved..."

This is more than just a roof, but a collaboration of talent and time to ensure Clayton's designs are fully realized for all of us to enjoy. We can't wait to see them up in the Galveston sky!

We've got so much to look forward to this year. Very high on that list (pun intended) are the final pieces to the 1892 Bishop's Palace roof project. The final decorative elements crafted by Ludowici, some of which were drawn by Nicholas Clayton but never created, are being finalized now. Seeing them atop this National Historic Landmark will be fantastic.

Just because Dickens on The Strand is over doesn't mean we're coasting through the holidays. We're staying on the good list with holiday happenings all month long.

Celebrate the season this Friday with a special performance by Shinyribs's Kevin Russell at the 1859 St. Joseph's Church. Then spend some time with us at the 1892 Bishop's Palace for our lunchtime Basement to Attic tour or our special Holiday Tour later in the day.

The Smoking Bishop's Soiree, held at the spectacular 1892 Bishop's Palace, this Friday night party features specialty acts (inside and out), food and drink, music, a reading by Oliver Dickens, and more, all leading up to the festival's first arrival and introduction of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert! A few months ago, we shared a photo we received of the 1892 Bishop's Palace. Lucky for us, they had more to send our way! For the eagle-eyed roof enthusiasts, you'll notice some elements that are not currently on top of the house, but will be returning early next year. Thanks to our donor of these photos, they provide a fantastic way to view and document the landmark's history.
