Residents and vistors alike came out Friday to celebrate Juneteenth in Galveston, where it all began.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy learned of their freedom in Galveston, Texas.

The celebrations included readings of General Order No.3, parades, music and fireworks.
