Your Gallup Fire Department is excited to introduce you to a new member of our family. Katrina Pat started as a Firefighter with the Gallup Fire Department on June 1st, 2021.

Katrina has served the Gallup community for the last 3.5 years as an EMT-Basic with MedStar Ambulance. Katrina also has a Bachelors degree in Crime/Forensic Science.

Katrina decided to join the Gallup Fire Department because she wanted to take on a new challenge and add onto her EMS experience. She decided to dedicate herself to training to join the fire department so she could earn the title of Gallup Firefighter. Katrina knew that the men and women of the Gallup Fire Department have earned the respect from the community and she is proud to now be a part of that family. Katrina also wants to be a role model to young women who believe in the stigma that women can't be firefighters.

When not learning everything she can about being a Firefighter, Katrina enjoys reading, traveling with friends and family, arts and crafts, playing guitar and piano, going to metal concerts and loves to bake. Katrina has bragged about her carrot cake recipe and we are excited to try it at the fire house.

Katrina is the first person in her family to be a first responder and we are proud and excited that Katrina has joined the Gallup Fire Department family, and we look forward to her having a long and healthy career.

Today we ask that you pray for our Local 1014 fire family as we process the tragic events of this morning.

We can never emphasize enough the importance of mental and behavioral health for our members. It is a constant battle which we are committed to fighting on behalf of our 3,200 members and their families. Our LA County Peer Support Team, which we have worked hard to have in place, has been deployed to help our members, families and our communities as we begin to heal.

Gallup firefighters are proud to announce the retirement of Battalion Chief Dayton. BC Dayton retired on Wednesday March 24th, 2021 after completing 20 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Gallup. BC Dayton was also a long-standing volunteer Firefighter and Fire Chief of Vanderwagen Fire Department. Throughout his career BC Dayton was known for his kind and caring manner, as a strong and encouraging officer, and for his commitment to lifetime learning. BC Dayton is well loved and will be greatly missed. It has been our privilege to have served with you Dayton and it is our honor to announce your retirement with our deepest gratitude for your commitment to the city and to our brotherhood. We wish you a happy and healthy retirement. From your brothers and sisters in the Gallup Fire Department, congratulations!

Gallup Fire Department Engine #4 and Resue #2 responded to a semi fire on Interstate 40, also received assistance from McKinley County Station #44. Quick knock out was initiated, overall good work from Gallup Fire Department and Mckinley County Fire Department.
