Wednesday, June 10th
Today's Monsoon Awareness Week topic is Lightning!

When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!

đŸŒŠī¸ The monsoon brings spectacular lightning shows to the Southwest, but lightning is deadly.

No place outside is safe when a thunderstorm is nearby.

If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck.

Wait 30 minutes after the last rumble before going back out.

While this case is on the opposite side of the state from us, we wanted to share for situational awareness for those in the farm and ranch industry as well as those traveling to participate in rodeos or stock shows this summer. Follow the NM Dept of Agriculture for the most up to date information on new world screwworm.

It's Monsoon Awareness Week, and today's weather safety topic is Heat.

Heat is the #1 weather killer in the US.

đŸŒĄī¸ During the monsoon, triple digit heat is common across the Southwest.

Stay hydrated, seek shade, and NEVER leave children or pets in a hot car.

Check on your neighbors and limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
