A concept introduced by RAPID 5 and Realm imagines a way to promote and protect the natural spaces of the Darby Creek region.

Enhanced transportation networks can further connect to existing villages and towns, thereby strengthening their economic positions. Restoration of degraded waterways and enhancing preserved natural features can connect visitors to nature throughout their journey of unique experiences.

The Camp Chase Trail is in Franklin and Madison counties, this 15.2 mile rail with trail is a perfect connector to London, Columbus and Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park .
Rail-trails are known for being mostly flat because trains couldn't go up steep hills.
The only steep section on the Camp Chase Trail is on the east side of the Darby Creek where the trail is not along the railway. The 2020 addition of the ravine trail through the woods is paved and meanders somewhat to help with the traverse.

It is time for the 2021 RAPID 5 Trail Challenge. The dates are Saturday October 16 to Saturday October 30.
To participate in this two-week challenge, you can bike, hike, paddle, run, walk, or name your own activity in any park or trail in one of the RAPID 5 Corridors shown in the attached image. The 5 are the Big Darby Creek, Scioto River, Olentangy River, Alum Creek and Big Walnut Creek.
You can earn prizes based on the number of completed recreation activities and there is a special shirt for doing at least one activity in all 5 river areas.
