𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐘 𝐊-𝟗 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐓

It is with deep regret; The Galloway Township Police Department announces the passing of retired K-9 C**t. K-9 C**t passed yesterday while surrounded by his family and handler, K-9 Sergeant Brent Lopez. K-9 C**t was ten and a half years old.

K-9 C**t joined the Galloway Township Police Department in August of 2016 when he was paired with then Officer Brent Lopez. K-9 C**t and Lopez began their journey as a K-9 team that fall, and in February 2017 they graduated from the John "Sonny" Burke Atlantic County K-9 Academy. K-9 C**t had a banner career with the Galloway Township Police Department, locating numerous suspects, missing people, and a large quantity of narcotics.

K-9 C**t received numerous Police Dog 1 and narcotic certifications through the United States Police K-9 Association. K-9 C**t will be remembered most for his appearances at National Night Out and numerous K-9 demonstrations throughout our community and local schools. K-9 C**t retired from duty in November of 2022 and lived comfortably at home with K-9 Sergeant Lopez and his family.

"K-9 Sergeant Lopez and K-9 C**t served as a top K-9 team all the way up to C**t's retirement" said Chief Eric B. Hendrickson. "Our thoughts are with K-9 Sergeant Lopez as he mourns the loss of his faithful partner."

🚨🚨News Alert🚨🚨

We would like to congratulate and recognize the Galloway Twp Police K-9 unit. All three of our K9s successfully certified with the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) in their Regional Scent Detector Trials. This event was hosted by Galloway Township. This event brought K9 teams from all around the region to certify in narcotics scent detection.

As a result of this event...

K9 Narco and his handler Ofc Lopez successfully certified in narcotics detection.

K9 Evo and his handler Ofc. LaSassa successfully certified in narcotics detection.

K9 Koa and his handler Ofc. Feliciano also successfully certified in narcotics detection.

The commitment and hard work that our handlers put into their assignment in the K-9 unit is to contribute to not only the department, but also the community they serve. We are extremely proud of our handlers and their partners!

Junior Girl Scout Lucy Gaeckle (Troop 11458) cleaned up the Galloway K9 memorial garden at Patriot Lake this weekend. Lucy did the clean up with her dad and some fellow junior Girl Scouts as part of her Bronze Award project. The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. Girls work together to complete a Bronze Award Take Action project that is meaningful to them. Through the project, they’ll learn leadership, work with people in their community, build confidence, and develop skills—all while making the world a better place.

Thank you Lucy for making this cleanup part of your Bronze Award project, the K9 garden looks amazing!!!
