On Friday, May 22, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., we will gather to honor the memory of David A. Poling, who gave his life in service to our community on this date in 2007.

The memorial ceremony will be held at the Gallipolis Public Use Area, adjacent to the Gallipolis City Park. As part of the ceremony, the current memorial wreath located on Gallipolis Island will be respectfully retired and replaced with a new wreath in his honor.

This ceremony is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend as we remember and honor our fallen brother and his sacrifice to the community he served.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

Not even the cold temperatures can keep the scammers away. While you are staying warm, we also want you to stay informed as we have received reports of a text message scam. The text claims to be an "Ohio Valley Bank Alert" and prompts recipients to reply yes or no regarding the authorization of a transaction. Please note that our actual fraud alerts will never ask you to provide private information, such as your ID, social security number, or online banking password, via text. If you receive a text and are still unsure, give us a call.

Snow Emergency Update

At this time, we are transitioning back to a Level 2 Snow Emergency.

After thorough consultation with other public safety leaders, the decision to transition has been made based on current roadway conditions. Primary roadways and the majority of secondary roads are in fair condition, and road crews continue working to mitigate snow and ice and improve travel conditions.

As expected, there is no warmer weather in sight for several days. Sustained warmer temperatures will be necessary to assist with the melting of snow and ice. Until then, any necessary travel should be done with extreme caution. If travel is not essential, it is strongly advised to remain off the roads.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our road crews, who are working tirelessly in these extreme cold conditions to make our roadways as safe as possible for everyone.
