Sew Fun Workshop Series 🧵✂️
Ready to learn how to sew? Join us for a hands-on Basic Sewing Workshop designed for youth ages 9–18!
Participants will:

Learn basic sewing techniques
Practice both machine sewing and hand stitching
Complete at least three projects across the sessions

📅 Workshop Dates:
June 16 – Basic Sewing (1:00–3:00 PM)
June 23 – Basic Sewing Continued (1:00–3:00 PM)

Gallia Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio State - Gallia County Extension and Gallia, County Farm Bureaus, are teaming up to help you “elevate your game” on Ohio ticks, tickborne illnesses, prevention, and protection. Heavy focus on tick borne illnesses in humans this go around.
We are hosting a great line up of guest speakers from the Gallia County Health Department and local medical professionals.

Tracey Perry, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator of Ohio State University- Vinton County Extension, will be our guest speaker for the day.
Come for all the resources and leave with knowledge and skills to do it at home!

We are seeking 10 local gardeners to participate in the 2026 Buckeye Lady Beetle Blitz! This community science program will take place across Ohio starting in mid-June.

Did you know that Ohio is home to several species of lady beetles? Our native species are vital to gardens, crops, flowers, and landscapes. They help control pests such as aphids, scales, mites, and other harmful insects that can damage our plants.

The Buckeye Lady Beetle Blitz is a research project aimed at monitoring the species found in backyards throughout Ohio.

The first 10 people to contact me will have the opportunity to participate in this year's Blitz and have their findings published in the science program. Your task is simple: place a sticky trap near your flower or vegetable garden for 7 days in June and then for 7 days in August. Afterward, count the number of beetles you collect. Your findings will provide valuable insights into the population numbers of these important insects and help us understand how invasive lady beetles are impacting our native populations. For more information, please contact Tracy at [email protected] to get your free sampling kit. This is a fantastic project for local garden club members, master gardeners, and 4-H teens who want to take their garden or insect projects to the next level. We only have 10 kits, so get your request in early! Sampling begins June 14!
