Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County

Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County partners with people in our community to help them build or improve a place they can call home.

Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County, Tennessee Inc. (HFHSC) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God's love into action by building homes, communities and hope. HFHSC is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Labor Day is really a day about people like ours. The volunteers who show up in work gloves and hard hats, rain or shine, to swing hammers, paint trim, haul lumber, and turn framed walls into homes. Together, we build more than houses. We build the kind of neighborhoods where families put down roots and Sumner County grows stronger. To every volunteer who has given a Saturday, a vacation day, or years of Wednesdays to this work: thank you. This one's for you. đź’™

There's something important we need to share with our community.

We've recently learned that individuals are using the Habitat for Humanity name to offer fraudulent home repair services. These scammers are targeting people who may be looking for housing help -- and we want to make sure no one in Sumner County gets taken advantage of.

Here's what to watch for. Be cautious of anyone who:

Promises free or heavily discounted home repairs with no application process. Requests payment upfront, asks for gift cards, or wants your banking information or personal documents. Uses the Habitat name, logo, or mission in a way that feels off. Pressures you to respond immediately.

We will never ask for payment, gift cards, or sensitive personal information through social media or unofficial channels. All of our programs and application periods are announced through our official website and these social media pages.

If someone contacts you claiming to represent Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County, reach out to us directly before sharing any information. Call us at 615-452-9606 or visit habitatsumnercounty.org.

If you see a suspicious post, message, or ad using our name, report it to the platform and let us know.

Thank you for helping us protect our neighbors. That's what community is for.

A $5,000 gift from the Messer Construction Co. Foundation is helping us open more doors to affordable homeownership here in Sumner County. Habitat for Humanity is best known for building homes, but our work runs deeper than that. Families build alongside us, put in hours on the job site, take financial independence classes, and buy their home through an affordable mortgage. It's a partnership from start to finish. Have questions about how it works? Ask away.
