***UPDATE***
I have spoken with the family and they have given permission for the name to be released.

David Lynn Edwardson, 41 year old from Galesburg, succumbed to his injuries sustained in a train versus pedestrian accident.

Just before 2pm today, Galesburg Police and GHAS were called to respond to a train versus pedestrian in the Pearl and Peck Streets in Galesburg. A male subject was found and transported to St Mary Medical Center. Unfortunately, the male succumbed to terminal injuries.

At this time, the name of the decedent is not being released by this office until family has been notified. I know other sources have posted a name. I ask that you show some respect and not share that information so that I may notify the family and not have them hear about on social media.

As always, please pray for the family.
