🧒 Do your kids know how and when to call 9-1-1? 🚨

Teaching children about 9-1-1 can save lives.

Start with the basics:

✅ What is an emergency?
✅ When should you call?
✅ How can you contact 9-1-1?
✅ What do you say to the 9-1-1 telecommunicators?
✅ Can your child say their name, address, and phone number?
✅ When is it okay to hang up the phone on 9-1-1?

🎯 Pro Tip: Practice common situations through role-play so they feel confident and not scared when they need to call or text 9-1-1.

Start the conversation today so they can be 9-1-1 heroes when seconds count.

Summertime is in full swing, and many families are keeping cool by heading to the pool. ☀️ Remember that swimming aids such as water wings or noodles are fun toys for kids, but they should not be used in place of a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.

Record breaking summer temperatures mean kids are at greater risk for heatstroke! When a car's internal temperature can rise by 19 degrees in just 10 minutes, it's important to double-check the back seat before leaving your vehicle. Most parents and caregivers believe it could never happen to them, but in most cases, the child is left behind unknowingly.

In 2022, children younger than 15 years of age accounted for 28% of firework related injuries. With the 4th of July right around the corner, it’s best to leave the celebratory light shows to the experts. Whether its sparklers or firecrackers, kids should not play with or ignite fireworks. Swap sparklers for glowsticks and head out to your local firework display for some family fun!

As summer temperatures reach record highs across the country, we join our partners by reminding everyone to help prevent these tragedies by being even more vigilant heading into the holiday weekend.
