Today, the 30,000 volunteer men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are active on the waterways and classrooms in over 2,000 cities and towns across the nation. Each year, Auxiliarists (folks just like you) save almost 500 lives, assist some 15,000 boaters in distress, conduct more than 150,000 courtesy safety examinations of recreational vessels, and teach over 500,000 students in boating
and water safety courses. The results of these efforts save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars every year. We want to see a community enjoy with RECREATIONAL SAFETY BOATING experiences

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Have you ever wondered how you can volunteer to serve locally, in Montgomery County and the Chesapeake Bay? Would you like to promote boating safety, contribute to homeland security, or environmental protection? Would you like to use your professional, leadership, technical or language skills to serve the boating public and your country? The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the all-volunteer component of the Coast Guard that gives its members these opportunities. Career civilians and career military serve side by side out on the water and on shore, and they do so locally, so members with lives and families don't have to worry about upending their routine or sacrificing their careers.
