From Taiwanese Classics to the World of Jazz:
Formosan Groove (胡聲拍仔) is Coming to the Washington, D.C. Stage!
Led by Taiwan-born, Washington, D.C.-based musician and composer/arranger Hsin-I Lee, Taiwanese jazz ensemble Formosan Groove (胡聲拍仔) will take the stage at two of Washington, D.C.’s iconic music venues this September and November at the Kennedy Center and Blues Alley, respectively.
Blending jazz, improvisation, funk, electronic music, and global influences, Formosan Groove brings new life to beloved Taiwanese songs from the past century. The repertoire includes classics such as Wang Chun Feng / Whispering Hope, Peach Blossom Takes the Ferry, Night Jasmine, Osmanthus Alley, When Will You Return, The Story of a Small Town, and Hot Rice Dumpling.
These familiar melodies are reimagined through jazz harmony, global rhythms, traditional Taiwanese instruments, and spontaneous improvisation, offering audiences a fresh perspective on the sounds of Taiwan.
The ensemble brings together musicians from Taiwan, Japan, Spain, and the United States, including pianist and arranger Hsin-I Lee, erhu player Cheng-Lun Chen, ruan and guitarist Tzu-I Lin, bassist Eugenio Ibáñez, saxophonist Haruka Yonezawa, and drummer/percussionist Alphonso M. Young, Jr.
With diverse cultural backgrounds and musical traditions coming together on one stage, Formosan Groove creates a unique musical dialogue where Taiwanese melodies meet the spontaneity and energy of jazz improvisation.

從臺灣老歌出發，走進爵士的世界 Formosan Groove 胡聲拍仔，即將登上華府舞台！
由臺灣音樂人李欣怡領軍，臺灣爵士樂團 Formosan Groove（胡聲拍仔） 將於今年 9 月及 11 月登上華府兩大代表性音樂場館——Kennedy Center（甘迺迪表演藝術中心） 與 Blues Alley，帶來融合爵士、即興、世界音樂與臺灣經典歌曲的精彩演出！
Formosan Groove 將透過 Jazz、Funk、電子音樂及世界音樂等元素，重新賦予臺灣百年歌曲新的生命。演出曲目包括《望春風》、《桃花過渡》、《夜來香》、《桂花巷》、《何日君再來》、《小城故事》、《燒肉粽》……這些熟悉的旋律，將透過爵士和聲、世界節奏、傳統樂器與即興演奏重新詮釋，帶大家聽見臺灣經典歌曲不一樣的面貌。
此次演出集結來自臺灣、日本、西班牙及美國的音樂家，包括鋼琴暨編曲家李欣怡、二胡演奏家陳正倫、中阮／吉他手林子益、低音提琴手尤金尼歐・伊巴茲、薩克斯風演奏家米澤晴香，以及鼓手暨打擊樂家小阿爾方索・楊（Alphonso M. Young, Jr.）。
不同文化背景、不同音樂訓練，在 Formosan Groove 的舞台上交會，讓臺灣旋律與爵士即興產生全新的火花。
